Planner Of The Year 2009 Results
RPCuk were delighted to present the 1st Annual Planner of the Year awards at Big Project Expo 2009 at Reading Town Hall.
The winner of Junior Planner of the Year went to Azer Jabbarov from Tecnicas Reunidas of Madrid. Currently working on a multi billion dollar project in Abu Dhabi, Azer faced all the usual challenges of today’s planner – managing both procurement and engineering activities as well as 15 liquidated damage milestones. To date, this exercise has been very successful and the project is running smoothly and to time. Azer is, therefore, a worthy winner of the RPCuk Junior Planner of the Year.

Chan Khan from C Spencer Ltd took the accolade of RPCuk Planner of the Year for his outstanding work on the East Midlands Parkway project. This included a new 4 station platform, new approach road and new overbridge and junction with a trunk road. Chan undertook a programme crashing exercise, interface management, change management and the usual project controls including s-curves for progress monitoring and showed all the qualities to be crowned RPCuk Planner of the Year.
The award was presented by David Tyerman and Chan commented afterwards...
“Traditionally, planners have not gained due recognition for their integral part in the successful delivery of projects. This award for Planner of the Year 2009, sponsored by RPCuk, recognises and highlights the professionalism and efforts of planning to the success of the project. Planners are a modest bunch of people! I would not have submitted an entry for this award had it not been for the recommendation from my Planning Director! and I would like to thank RPCuk and David Tyerman of C Spencer Ltd for this prestigious award and welcome the opportunity to nominate a planner for next year's awards.”

RPCuk also announced that the awards for 2010 are now open and that a further category of 'Planning Team Of The Year' has been introduced to recognise the importance of more than one individual contributing to the successful delivery of a project. Entry forms can be downloaded from the main RPCuk Planner Of The Year page.
